Ran into a cop friend of mine today at lunch. He informed me that he just bought a new BM-42S. He loves it. He's not your average LEO. He's more of a old timey Peace Officer. Just never thought I'd see a cop with a balisong that they actually bought rather than confiscated. Maybe the tide is turning.

Please consider that to change attitudes towards our favorite type of knife, and knives in general, it helps to have the police on our side. We shouldn't assume that simply because a knife is confiscated, it isn't turned in to the property room. This isn't directed at you Kyui Su Kim (I see the big grin), or you Hoplophile, or anyone in particular. There are many police officers such as Hoplophile describes. Confiscating an illegal item, and in many cases not citing anyone, may be the officer's way of dealing with laws they may not care for, but have a sworn duty to enforce. Put yourself in the officer's shoes and ask yourself what you might do in a similar situation. For the record, there is a law enforcement officer from my neck of the woods who has made videos on the manipulation of the balisong.
