On any other forum you can copy from one location and paste by right clicking where the cursor is blinking and selecting paste.
It doesn't work that way here, I have to go up to edit at the top of the page to select those functions.

Is this something that was left off by chance during an upgrade?

It's been that way for quite awhile but I just remembered to ask as I had occasion to paste some links and it's a pain.

Thanks for your time.

It works fine for me. What browser are you using?

Hmm ... you know there's a choice of three different message editors here? Go to your User Control Panel, Edit Options, scroll down to Message Editor Interface and try one of the others. Though even the simplest barebones editor ought to be able to paste....

Actually, I was experiencing the same thing last night too. Couldn't copy anything on BF. I thought it was just some goofy error with my browser or something, but if it's happening to somebody else...

I'm using firefox. Everything is working fine now.

Try clearing your cache. Seems Firefox can sporadically have all kinds of odd and inexplicable errors when the cache gets corrupted....

No problems with IE or Firefox. I think the issue is a PEBCAK. :D

Firefox, Cougar.

I just tried it again here and when I right click on the reply to paste a link, that option is not even in the menu, in fact it's a different menu than is there on any other forum?!?!?!
That's why I have to go up to the toolbar at the top and select copy, cut, or paste from that.

I did select "view this page in IE", and when it finished loading a few minutes later;), I right clicked the reply page and it had paste in the menu.

So it's just firefox that does it, and if it's not bothering everybody, maybe it's some setting on mine, though if that were the case, why does it only do that here, not on any other forum?

Thanks for your time, folks!

That sounds like the odd things that happen when Firefox's cache gets corrupted. Clear the cache and try again.

Another thing that gets reported a lot is avatars and smileys turn into different pictures -- Firefox gets mixed up and pulls the wrong picture out of the cache, so if you've visited a porn site lately you might find I have a different kind of pussy for an avatar....

It's the same kind of thing -- Firefox is pulling some other menu out of the cache, something that doesn't have paste on it.

its wierd, because I have never had any funny stuff happen while using Firefox.

Nor have I, and I clean the cache every night, history too.

Sometimes Firefox and Netscape don't allow the use of the right click to paste, you have to use the toolbar Edit, I don't know the exact reason but it's related somehow to
"scripts" whose operation is prevented by those two browsers

Someone more knowledgable on this will, no doubt, post soon

Of the forums I visit, this is the only one that affects my Firefox browser this way. IE is flat too slow on this site to even consider using it again.:barf:

That's another anomaly. This site runs fast for most of us, including those of us using IE.

Have you tried the other editors? Of course you should be able to right-click and paste in all of them, but if it works with the others that might be a clue....

Hmmmmmmmmmm...........I switched to standard editing in my user CP and I can now copy and paste using the right click feature. Something is wrong with the editing feature, Cougar. Better have that seen to.;)

Enhanced Interface-Full WYSIWYG Editing.

I went back to Standard Editor - Extra Formatting Controls, and the right click feature works now.

Well, it doesn't for me. I just had to use the controls in the edit menu up top.

I get a completely different menu pop up when I use the full editor when right clicking, and paste isn't on it.

Back to standard editor for me, as it looks like there's no fix.
