Bear & son (www.bearandsoncutlery.com see catalog- new items) have a copy of what looks very much like the Sharpfinger. It shows the very good designs Schrade came up with. Other manufactures have also coppied the Sharpfinger I believe. Like Codger, I like the 165OT best of all then the Sharpfinger.

Yep, it's homage to the design that so many knife manufacturers have come up with a Sharpfinger design. Camillus and United also have clones, and I note that if you want to build you own, Jantz supply also has kits/blades available. So far I have not seen a 165 take-off, except for the new china made Taylor-Sch*****s.

Bear makes a good solid knife, we sell a lot of their product. you can't beat them for a well made american knife at a great price. JP

I've only seen one copy of the 165OT and the only place I know where to see it is at the SMKW site. It is listed under the Sawmill cutlery brand, not a exact copy, but very, very close. I had a small Sawmill fixed blade some years ago, wasn't a bad knife, but then again it wasn't a great knife either. Sold off many moons ago in one of my occasional collection purges.

Anyone else ever notice this knife?

Since you posted this "Sawmill Cutlery" knife info, I've found the thing in several places, and ranging in price from $8.85 all the way up to $12.95. It does look close in profile. Pakiwood handles, pinned not riveted, and made in Pakistan. It's called the SM-3 Sawmill Cutlery Slim Skinner knife. 9 5/8" overall, 5 1/8" high carbon stainless blade.Full tang. Brass finger guard and lanyard hole. It is the first close copy I have seen of the 165OT Pattern, but the choil is different, so it is not an exact pantographed copy, but close enough to confuse some folks. A good knife...to purge, IMHO.

the thing..... got a good chuckle out of that, I usually refer to them as knife-like objects, but your description carries just the right amout of disdain.

I've tolerated the outright copying, and "tributes" to the Sharpfinger. I reviewed the Chitaylor 15OT for you guys ( :barf: ). But messing with my own 165OT is a no-no ( :grumpy: ). Isn't it about time we declared war on Pakistan? Bomb the knife kiosks there or something? I need to write my congressman about this.

Aw come on.
I think we need a good picture and a side by side and a material workup... This should be a non-biased review by the person whom knows the 165's the best!

For 9.00 can you go wrong?

p.S.
I agree that Bear make a knice knife.
