Cord Wrap Question

I just picked up a Rat Tail and want to wrap the handle with some OD paracord. I've read some threads about cord wrapping and most suggest soaking the cord and doing the wrap wet to get it tight.

Has anyone here tried this on a skeleton key, skelly warden or anything else similar to the Rat Tail? Any problems with rust through the coating before the wrap drys?

I posted this in the Swamp forum also. Thought I'd ask here too.

Thanks for your help.

I always do any paracord work dry. Some leave in the core and some remove it.... but dry is the say to go for me.

I'm an advocate of soaking the paracord (with core) and wrapping wet.
I've wrapped a skeleton warden this way (several times) and have not had any rust issues.

WOW! That looks fantastic!! How does the cord feel when using in wet conditions?

In my experience a straight wrap, like this:

gets a little bit slippery, but still better than a wet unwrapped blade coating! To resolve that I laced the glowy cord (PMI Niteline) through every other row, and the raised cords make it feel a lot more tactile.

If you're gonna wrap it on some kind of carbon steel wet, you'd better waterproof the handle first, otherwise rust rust rust will appear. In my opinion, you can get it very tight wrapping it dry with a vise.
