My first attempt at a STRIDER style cord wrap...

ImageServer.psp

Whadda Ya think?

I think something's up with Imagestation because it doesn't look like they're allowing linked image pages to their servers anymore. Maybe it's a glitch.

OK...got the properties off the "sorry" message and pasted the URL in another window. Saw the pic.

Great job Kop!!!

I don't see a problem...the image is loading for me every time.

Problem with the wrap. I can't sheath the Brend now without mod to the sheath. The handle is too thick.

I had that same problem in sheathing my Brend after the wrap. I looked and noticed that the stitching used in holding the sheaths hole together is outside of the hole area. Using an Exacto knife, I removed some material until I was just inside of the holes stitch pattern. Then I melted the edges smoothly together with a soldering iron. I also ended up rewrapping my Brend with smaller diameter line. It is the cord with 4 strand inner instead of the 7 strand inner. Plus under this outer wrap I used a camo duck decoy cord as the inner wrap. Real strong and quite thin. All of this made for a much thinner wrapped handle. The final step in mine was soaking the wrap with 30 min. epoxy thinned with acetone. Thic made the handle as hard as g-10 and impervious to the elements and most wear.

But wouldn't that kill the purpose of being able to use the paracord for some emergency???? like snaring and animal, broken shoe sting, etc.????

Yes, you do lose the ability to use that paracord. But, since I carry more 550 cord and other line, wire ties and the like with me in my BOB, I really don't need that piece all that much. Plus I really like the solid feel of the epoxy soaked line.:D YMMV

Valid points!!;)

Hi, new to the group, but, I don't know....I just don't really like cord wraps....even with epoxy...but I do have an open mind....all the ones Ive seen and tried either slip or cut my hands up too bad....I really like the price, and a wear a cord bely in the woods, but..well you get the picture....I'm going to order a Brend, but I'd really prefer scales.....

Thanks,
Steve

Gryphon,

You could make some custom scales just for something to do on the weekend or also I saw a customer who cord wrapped the Brend and then slipped a golf club/tennis racket gripper sleeve over the whole deal and it was great on the hands.

Yeah, I could do that. But the Brend is such a cool looking design, I think I'm going to put some fancy wood on it, like fiddleback or curly maple.....then I guess I have to get 2, one just for the G-10 scales......
