I'd been wanting to make a knife with a cord wrapped handle for a while and then I saw Storm Crow's very nice SERE blade :http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/913040-Primal-Tactical-SERE-knife and it pushed me to do one. This one is 1/8" O-1, 9 1/4" OAL, 4 1/2" blade. Stock removal, flat grind, secondary bevel. The Cord wrap is gutted Digicam paracord over 2 layers of grey paracord to add some thickness to the handle. A not-so-great 4L-5B two strand Turk's head knot forms the pommel. All paracord has been saturated with ZAP thin CA.

It looks like I might get some woods time in this weekend so i threw together a quick leather sheath (very fugly, no pics) and hope to get to beat on this one some this weekend.

Comments are welcome.

I've never tried a real composite cord handle. It looks like it would grip well. But the only ones I've done were not impregnated with anything, and I didn't especially like them. Collect dust, dirt, and funk. Not an issue with CA or epoxy sealed, though. I have an old D2 ARC Lite around somewhere that I should try that with.

thanks for the comments, guys.

rockspyder, E found one of her best friends from high school on Facebook; turns out she lives just across the state line from your old stomping grounds in Patrick County VA AND they own about 80 acres. Her husband hunts, fishes, etc and we're going back up there this weekend. L might be a little whiny; he cut his finger bad (stitches and Vicaden bad) last night taking down their Christmas lights. Don't know which knife (hope it wasn't one I made) or how many stitches.

REally interested to hear how it works. Sounds like a lotta fun (well, except for L).

Yes, the good thing is I already "DIBBS" on any extra Vicaden, lol. And he's fun to pick on when he's wounded, lol. Supposed to be pretty cold up there. I'll find out of the CA treatment is brittle in the cold.

I did get a little woods time in on Saturday and got to try this knife out a little:

A little fire prep (too windy to actually make a fire for no reason, but its good to practice.)

Next to a Wetterlings SAW13.

Thanks for the comments, guys. The CA held up fine and did not appear to be brittle. I had to trim one loose end on the Turk's head knot but I think that was my fault. I should have tied the Turks Head with the loose ends handle side and not blade side. Overall, I'm happy with it and will probably make more.
