Here's a Kangee I just 550 cord wrapped. I've not seen any pics of one wrapped yet so I thought I would post it up. It changes the weight and feel completely. I love the feel of the scales it comes with but it seems to put too much weight in the handle. With the wrap, it feels much lighter and the weights in the head more.

Here's one I pulled offline from the pic section of the Kangee. Not mine, but this is how it looks with factory handle.

I love the looks and feel of the way it came but you can really feel all 24 ounces of it in the hand. Just thought I would see the difference in how it feels and responds.

I could see how those scales would add a lot of weight but they are pretty nice starting to like the look of that model .

Looks good. I'll bet it makes the chopping much more efficient. You might have solved the balance problem.

I might be tempted to try a Chogan if CRKT would sell a less expensive model sans the scales.

I definitely like the feel of the scales better but the balance point is now just a few inches under the head with the wrap which makes it feel like a completely different tomahawk than with the scales on.

The CRKT line are the only hawks I'm aware of in their price range which come with a tapered handle......a feature that is generally only found on very high end hawks. However, it still doesn't help it enough in keeping that weight in the head.

Old post, but can anyone confirm that the CRKT hawks have a tapered tang? I looked at both models in a gunshop locally, and neither looked tapered to me. Thanks.

They are tapered. The tang goes from 1/4 in down to 3/16 on the last few inches of the tang.

Is there any way of wearing the Kangee on your belt?

The factory sheath is very compatible. There are numerous attachment points that would quickly lend itself to belt carry using cordage and you could probably rig the shoulder system to easily form a belt loop as well.
