I was wondering if anyone made a cord wrapped pistol grip. I just think it woud be awesome if a ruger vaquero or pretty much any other single action revolver had its grip cord wrapped or wrapped in the traditional japanese way ( I used to know the word for that). Anyway I just thought it would be awesome because I saw a concept art drawing of a pistol with its handle wrapped like that.

OK....Doesn't seem practical to me. Revolvers, especially single-action revolvers, have grips that tend to taper from the Butt upwards. Anything wrapped around such a taper would tend to bunch up under recoil. Any such slippage or bunching would prevent bringing the hammer to full cock.

I also imagine it would be plain uncomfortable....

Half azzed solution to a non-existant problem.

cord wrapping handles were invented for knives and swords in places where natural materials were unavailable, unworkable (or that the artisans were not skilled enough to work the material) or simply lazy. Bare knife-tangs were difficult to hold on to and generally did not fill the hand so something had to be put around it so you could hold the damn thing. Guns are a different story... Grips were made to fill the hand, more or less, and to provide a firm and stable platform for the firearm. Wrapping paracord around the grip would be... well... half-azzed.

I could see the practical problems of it. I just thought it would look cool. Guess I didnt think it through well enough. :footinmou

I wrapped 550 cord around my remington 870 pistol grip stock for use while hunting. It looks cool, and I like the feel, although slippage can occur. But in this case its irrelivant. I'm sure it would be a problem on a revolver unless you glued the rope down really well.

I don't really know jack about guns but:

What if you made a mock up trigger frame thingie. Did your wrap, then dipped or brushed epoxy/resin over. Cut it off the frame and smoothe the cut edges then put them back on your gun?

Guns are bad, yes they are, but I, I, I, I don't, and I never, have no, no, no, I don't know what I'm talking about. Woooohoooo!

What about a stingray and japanase Katana type of wrap.
(I don't really know much about guns, though)

Makes one wonder why it's such a hot trend in the knife world...
I've wondered about that a LONG time, and why some aren't any cheaper that the ones with "real" handles?

'cuz everyone thinks the cord wrapped striders are the bomb lol, big demand i guess.
