Cordage and the sheath

I have a new BK7 and would like to add cordage to the handle and sheath. I assume most use paracord. I was thinking of making a continuous loop using 7/64" Amsteel Blue for the handle with the ends buried. Seems like that would be a cleaner loop without a knot. But since Amsteel doesn't tie well I'd use paracord for the sheath. How do most people tie their's down, inside of the leg, front or side? Knot selection?

Thanks in advance for the help. I love the knife and just ordered some Ipe wood scales from Tommy. Can't wait to put them on.

I'd recommend Para for the lanyard, if I read correctly.
A continuous loop is with out adjustment.
There is a way to lock your hand to the handles by wrapping around the back of your hand and around your thumb. a cinch knot of sorts is used so its adjustable for use with or with out glove.
the Amsteel blue would be great for the sheath as extra cordage that is pretty bullet proof.

I will look for a picture or take one of the lanyard technique, and add it at a later time.

welcome to the forum. What's next? The 7 is a great blade but gets lonely pretty quickly

So it's important to have the cord around your hand adjustable? I can see it if your wearing gloves or not. Do folks ever use leather lashing instead or paracord?

As for the sheath I was looking on YouTube and saw a guy who used 1/8" shock cord. I thought this made sense since you wouldn't need to be re-tying it and it would flex with your body movements. Thoughts?

I left my lanyard a little long for usage with gloves, for a shorter length, I twist it.

I will edit after I think on this a little (and not holding a rambunctious 6 mo. old, lol).

Hey Brien.....

Welcome, welcome........ Thank you for buying a Becker......

I think para cord may give the handle a bit too much girth...... The best way to add a bit is to use a piece of bike inner tube ..... Or liners under the handle..... If you really want cordage try Wallace Cordage's tarred decoy line.... The #18 is well over a hundred lbs tensile and the larger size is. In the 250# range...... Takes a hell of a knot....... Rather than put everything on the exterior I usually have several old hotel key cards wrapped with decoy Line and Gorrilla Tape......

Hope you stick around....

E
