Cordura sheaths for the Becker line?

I know this is a shot in the dark, but the new BK7's sheath got me thinking...
-Any chance of nylon sheaths with an insert becoming an option for the rest of the BK&Ts?
-Or does anyone have a suggestion for who to go to have such a sheath made (for a Brute, not to mention for a reasonable price)?
Normally, I like Kydex/Concealex, but the handles on the Beckers just don't fit me that well-and that's what the sheaths are fitted for. I traded my Brute because the grip was not secure or comfortable for my small/medium hands, and it didn't take long to find out that I would lose my grip while chopping.
The Patrol Machete is a little better fit-amazing what that small difference in thickness made to my hand-but still not "just right".
So today, I cord wrapped it with a diamond wrap over a flat wrap (like a Strider), and the difference was incredible. I haven't done any work with it since, but just playing with it, it is much more comfortable and secure-though I realize there is a greater danger of the hand slipping forward onto the edge. I don't stab stuff with my machete, though:rolleyes:
When my BK7 arrives it may get the same treatment, which I think will be fine, because of the sheath, and the guard.

To make a short story long, I wouldn't mind getting another Brute, and wrapping it, but am not sure what to do about a sheath...

Anybody try something similar or have any thoughts on this?

Here's a scan of my PM's handle. It's my first attempt, so keep the laughter to a minimum, please:p

I did the same type of handle wrap on my Campanion, very comfortable. But I changed it back to the handle slabs because it did not fit the sheath.

Busse uses a lot of the nylon/kydex lined sheaths. I put my Brute into my Basic 9 nylon sheath and it fits very good, but the thumb strap is not long enough to close. It might be able to close if it was wrapped with paracord, but don't know for sure. I also tried the brute in my Battle Mistress nylon sheath, but it rattles around. The basic 9 sheath had no blade play. The thumb strap on the Mistress sheath was a little longer but still did not close. Not sure who produces these types of sheaths.

Sorry Guys,
But we don't have any plans for any oprional sheaths for the BK&T line. I would suggest contacting any of the guys here on the forums that do custom Kydex if you want another sheath. Normark or Bob Baily of Elite Tactical Carry Systems come to mind.

Just a question, are you wrapping paracord around the scales, or are you taking the scales off and wrapping around the bare tang? Hard to tell from the scan.....

Thanks for being a customer....even if you are "wrapped" a little different;)

Will,
I took the scales off and wrapped the tang. It looks a little different now, since I rewrapped it at the butt to support the pinky finger after doing a few minutes work with it.

I just got my BK7 (and my friend's) today, and don't know if I'll wrap it or not at the moment. The handles are very comfortable, and I don't think security will be a problem since this knife won't be doing any heavy chopping.
It's hard to believe that y'all can put out this knife, at this price, provide a quality sheath, and we still get a factory edge that doesn't need any extra work:) Mine is hair-popping, and decently thin. Even the thumbramp, though not attractive, is well done, and provides a natural, and secure grip. Balance is right on the guard, which I like in a knife this size. Love the blade, too.
Camillus continues to impress me.

OOOH! cant wait to try this on the brute.

I just broke down and ordered one today.
It was inevitable.
Any way Im a big fan of cord wrapped EKs, kinda funky but good classicly styled knives, and more recently Stiders.
Im counting on the handles being pretty beefy since Ive got pretty big hands and like a largish handle. Better for pounding with and hanging onto when under duress, no time for svelteness!
But I would like to try cord wrapping the beast, er Brute, for a spell. Any one else tried this yet?

I bet it would look wicked. If it was cool enough I would just send it in to have it fitted for a sheath. On scene tac or such.

Im making a knife out of a large file and intend to cord wrap it first as well before making some nice handles for it.
So I was very interested to see this post.

Does anybody have any links to good cord wrapping instructions?
Its been a while since boy scouts....

Personally, since it was said that the tang is "skeletonized", I thinking about experimenting by putting one of Ron hood's ATAX mini-kits into the "holes".
Sound like an idea????????

May do the handle wrap later!!;)

Thanks Owen, Thats just the thing.
Now Ive got to practice, practice, etc.

Hey Big Target,
I gotta say that Books can die. Ive killed a couple myself.
Not very good ones and no one will miss them, but the book itself is not the thing.
Fascists frequently turn to the torch to erase books which they do not understand or support.
If we had the combined knowledge lost to pillage in our wars and cultural revolutions, It is impossible to say where we might be as a society today. The loss of the library at Alexandria alone is a staggering thought. Books burn they die.
Ideas however are powerfull and the vocal tradition is much stronger and more durable. The word has great strength.
And language is the key to that strength.
Our best hope for the future is encrypted datastreams.
How'd ya like that ramble?

On topic: I saw someone say in another thread that a dealer had Campanions with Cordura sheaths.
Just thought I'd throw that in there.

I cord wrapped my Combat/Utility, and it feels great, but doesn't support little finger as well as the factory scales. May put them back on, but I'm going to try it with the cordwrap when I get the chance to see how it does.
Here's my BK7 and D2 ArcLite:D

Nice Owen, the BK7 looks great like that.
After using the brute I think the handles provided are pretty hard to beat. I dont think I'll try to cord wrap it unless the handles completely melt off.
Maybe if I had an extra BK7 around.....

Sorry for going off on your tagline like that Big T, too much coffee and late night typing.

Damn keyboard! I poured some cpoffee in it the other night and it hasnt been the same since.
