I'm curious, does the LM Core approx = Swiss Spirit? I should get 1 (can't carry my soddy, or Vic Soldier-it's tooooo scary) never used a multitool, & want to know opinions of each. (I only saw photos online of each, never used 1.) Thanks

Different categories of tool, here. The Core is more heavy duty, therefore larger and heavier than the Spirit. If I expect to do serious work, I always reach for my Core. For general out and about, the Spirit is awfully nice. Although the Core lacks scissors, the one on the Spirit sucks big time, so I prefer to supplement either with a watch pocket-carried Micra.

It depends on your needs. My take: Core for the workplace, Spirit for day to day.

i actually substituted my core for a swisstool spirit for a short time. the spirit does everything that the core will do, the only issue i have is that the tools aren't as large. the core was definetly designed to do the job of a small toolbox, but the spirit tool selection is geared for a day to day, whatever comes up, carry. the general strength of either tool is still stronger than anyone is ever going to use, i would think.

I'm a happy Spirit user, and I've found that the Spirit is robust enough to do anything you'd do with a multitool, and it's tool array is the most useful selection of the multitools I've tried. I also like being able to open the blades without unfolding the whole tool.

I carry a Core/SAK Outrider (has scissors on it) great combo and tools sub each other.

The Core is more comparable in weight and size to the original/full size SwissTool than the Spirit. Between the Core/original SwissTool, I prefer the Core because of its better pliers and screw drivers; about the only thing that the SwissTool has that Core doesn’t, that I miss, is the chisel/scraper.

The Sprit is a compact full featured multitool more comparable to the LM Blast. Spirit vs. Blast is a much closer call, but I would get the Spirit if I had to pick one. The Blast has a little eyeglass screwdriver bit holder and rulers on the handles in contrast to the Spirit which has the SwissTool’s excellent chisel/scraper, slimmer, more ergonomic handles…but unfortunately no rulers.
