I wanted to ask you guys what your opinions are on the corelon scaled 110 knives, are they durable, what are they worth and what year did they start production. I'm thinking about adding some of these to my collection but if they're not worth it I'll scatch the idea. thanks guys for any info.

I like various scale materials but things like lucite, corian and reconstituted stone do not appeal to me. I figure if custom scales are being done, I would prefer stag, pearl, ivory, natural stone, burls or other fine woods.

That is just my opinion,
Peter

White Corian 110s were sold in the US in 1992. Gray Corian 110s were sold outside the US that same year. I assume 112s were sold at the same time in the same places. As a user I have no idea how they hold up.

i have two corian white 110's
inalys cracked on both sides of the knife at rivets
buck can not fix these as it is cosmetic damage from use..
the other is in collector shape..
for a user ... not that good
for display yep is nice
the gray i dont have..
buck sway has a gray 112 ..
dont know what he would say tho..
jest my two centevous

the knives that I'm talking about are scaled in CORELON not corion, The knives with the wild colors that are all swirly. the scales look like a thick acrylic. IE the AQUARIOUS 110 AND FIRE FEATHER 110 there are a couple of them on ebay forsale now for a picture refrence. thank you for the info so far though:thumbup:

So then, which aftermarket scales void the warranty and which don't? For example, Deadwood Knives offers Corelon scaled 110's and says knives are full covered by warranty. So how do I tell who's right? I'm interested in some of these knives, but don't want to buy a lemon. Thanks.

Any and all aftermarket scales will void Buck's warranty, although aftermarket companies may offer their own warranty. The reason that Buck's warranty is voided is that it is possible that the scales could be damaged while at their factory and they then have no means to replace those aftermarket scales.

That makes my search very efficient - I don't have to look or be tempted by any of the fancy scales models out there. I'll just stay with the shop Buck models. Thanks.

a little 112 factoid...The grey corian 112's paperwork was ALL printed in German...
