Heres a little one ive been playin with...dont know how well it would hold up but people seem to love it once you tell them what it is...

Bird and Trout Knife
440C SS 60 RC
OAL: 5.5"
Blade 2.5"
Handle: Stabilized Corn Cob with brass pins.

this stuff even though stabilized still likes to shrink alot and i have to resand a couple times..more of a novilty then a work piece i fear...the cob was stabilized once and then i filled in the rest with super glue but i think it needs stabilized a couple times more before working with...anyway here it is

It's beautiful. The color and texture in the cob is really nice. Where'd you get cob that's stabilized?

Also, couldn't you dip the scales in polyurathene for a couple layers, snading in between to fill it in and give it a finish?

I got my cob off of ebay actually...and the third site down was another site that i saw that offered them...
i think i paid like 5$ for 2 of them...they are fun to mess with

i am going to try to do my own from scratch....i am making a vacuum chamber for stabilizing and im going to try fast drying polyurathane hopefully a couple soaks in that will provide a good base...ill let you know how it works

Please post when you can make a "working" knife with a corn cob handle. I'd like to get one.
