The postman didn't need to ring twice when he delivered one of those world famous triangle boxes! A villager khuk had been ordered and upon opening the box when it finally arrived, ASTOUNDING! is the only descriptive worthy of such a beautiful piece of craftsmanship! My highly critical gun maker's eye slowly took in all the details and must report that common DEFECTS, bobbles, glitches, or any of Bawanna's finger prints could be found. Simply amazing.

It's black with very little shiny to it. The wood used is highly attractive to my eye. The rings on the handle are even, no chips, rough spots, or cracks, and is sanded very smooth. The butt cap is polished like an Uncle's bald head and there are no burrs or rough spots where it joins the handle and the join is smooth like a baby's bottom. The Spears of Shiva are even and thus look super. Don't even bother to ask if it's sharp. The correct word is SCARY. Simply put, even though this is a lowly villager model work horse khuk, I have never seen a more perfectly crafted specimen at all. This is Kothimora quality, fellers, plain and simple. Kudos to the Kami, obviously a Master.

That does look quite perfect. The HI kamis often come close to perfect, but this one gets ten out of ten The buttcap and keeper are immaculate. It looks like Kumar (or a helper) even managed to scrape off the bit of laha that often oozes out the front of the bolster onto the blade. That stuff is not easy to get off. The handle is beautiful.

It reminds me of the 1950 Western classic movie, Winchester '73 (James Stewart) in which part of the plot revolves around the theft of a perfect "One of One Thousand" Winchester 1873 rifle.

That is especially nice. I don't think I've ever seen such a perfect butt cap installation. Very nice.
And the blade and wood are gorgeous.
I concede you have the absolute bestest VUK, almost typed KLVUK but that wouldn't be right.
It's a Kumar VUK.

I guess you'll no doubt probably concede now that bawanna has the bestest Curved Spine.
It's the right thing to do.

Man thats a stunner for sure. Almost looks to nice to use but I know you will give it a workout or two.

I think I remember seeing that KLVUK on the DOTD. I was super tempted but I already have one. I agree, thats the finest KLVUK I have ever seen. The wiod is beautiful.

Sorry, Mateos. It was not a DOTD, but ordered.
I ordered one recently as well. Yours reminds me of mine, if I remember right. Ms. Yangdu said this one was special to her for some reason. I haven’t had it out in a month so I’ll dig it out, compare it and if it looks like yours, I’ll take photos and post! Thanks for posting because I forgot about mine.

Your post reminded me of the vuk I recently bought from Yangdu. I called her and ordered it. Your handle reminded me of mine because it looks like the same reddish wood. Unfortunately for my, mine is a dirty version of yours. It’s a great knife but I can’t make out the Kami mark because of the laha on the Kami mark! It’s beautiful for a $45 Knife otherwise!

Nothing wrong with being a bit dirty, as it is bound to happen through use anyway. A little character never hurts! If the right feel and utility is there, a dirty blade can still be a 10/10

Kumar always does an extra fine job of finishing his handles and picking the right piece of wood. This CAK is just perfect. Dont see AK's in this form very often.

Never seen one like that. Really nice.

I just sent Yangdu a message, I gave away my kindling processing CAK on vacation. Have to get me a new one.
I have another but it's a Tirtha and kind of nice, hate to mess it up. Funny the kami's make users and we want to keep them as show pieces, except in your case that it. Maybe your thing is going barefoot so your shoes stay nice?

Kumar must be a really great Kami. I received a villager with his stamp. It is gorgeous. Above and beyond. I wonder if he knows people so far away are bragging about his work? I hope so.

I think Aunti Y somehow lets it be known to him that his work is really appreciated and it is. If I wanted a certain knife i dont even need to see it if Kumar made it! He is that good. Great knife Doc! Im sure youll cherish that one!

Superb post and pix, thank you for sharing
