We received our shipment from Buck at work, upon displaying them I noticed that some model numbers were wrong. The 501 has "522" stamped on the blade along with the date code for 1997. The handle appears to be nickel-silver still, not stainless. The 703s are also different. They are marked "704" and have the date code for 1998. Have the model numbers changed or are these mistakes?

Every now and then we will "use up" a discontinued blade where we can. The 522 is the same blade as a 501 and the 704 is the same as a 703 main blade. Since the 522 and 704 were discontinued, we used the blades in the 501 and 703. Collectors look far and wide for these variations. I am surprised that you got two in one shipment!
