Can anyone tell me what the correct description or name would be for this type of Buck sheath and when they were the standard sheath?
They are my favorite Buck sheath but I don't know what top call them.

Plumber, I'm not sure what others call them but I call them a fold over or one side stitched, flap sheath . My 531 came in one like the middle one in your picture . I like that style . DM

A 531 is exactly what's in that one too.

Those are the style sheaths the 532's came in too. That was why I was disappointed when I received the brown 500 sheath with the 532 camel bones they had on the web a while back.

My other 532's had the sheaths like in the pictures and they fit MUCH better than the 500 sheaths in my opinion.

Yeah, the one on the right isn't stamped as such (no model stamp at all), but it's a perfect fit for the 532.

I also like the look of those sheaths. I had a couple of 110s that came in blister packs with that style of sheath - perhaps they pre-dated the nylon ones in that kind of packaging - but I don't know that. The darker brown one to the right of the pic above seems to corrode the brass bolsters really badly compared to any other buck leather sheaths I have.

I have a black one and a brown one and they don't have a model # on them either. I hadn't noticed that before:D

I refer to those as a holster sheath, but that's just me. I don't know if that's official.

Look under the belt strap. For a long time, I thought that the one in the center wasn't stamped but under the strap it's stamped, 531, 535, 550.

Interesting Dave. The brown sheath DOES have a stamp of two numbers under the belt loop. "532" and under that "551". That one I got with a "+" 1991 version which I bought on the secondary market.

The black sheath came with the "]" 2000 issue with a BG-42 blade. No marking of model # on that one.

Other differences: The leather on the brown one, is noticeably thicker (.11), as opposed to (.085), on the black sheath. I'm not a machinist either, but keep my dial caliper handy:D. The black one is also wider, as you can see in the picture on the sheath on the right.

The pearl one I have, that came in one of the black "Limited Edition" boxes, just came with a black leather "pocket" slip case. The date on that box is "7-6-04".

I just found this while doing a thread search for 551.

"The original very well made brown leather sheath was stitched all the way around the pouch and was clearly marked on the backside with the model number 532. In approximately late 1992, in a move to reduce cost, the sheath was replaced by a fold over type sheath that was sewn up one side. This sheath was sometimes marked just under the belt loop with the model numbers 532 and 551 under that. After the limited edition Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) Bucklock of 1995 the model numbers were no longer stamped on the sheath. This sheath in brown or black leather was used until the Limited Edition 2000 knives with BG-42 blades that used a Duke 500 sheath in neutral color, although I have seen some with a black Duke sheath. One or the other of these Duke sheaths is used on all current Bucklocks issued with a sheath."

I believe the correct name for that kind of sheath is................Fred:p

No idea
