Quick question: what is the correct name of the dimple at the end of the bolster? Not the fluted line. Thanks.

Another name for it is a "spoon bolster"! I kid you not!!

Then i've put a spoon bolster on all my knives, well some didn't have bolsters.
But I still pinched all the knives.:D

Were did you find out it was called this?

Thanks

Todd

BTW, lines across the bolster have traditional names also. A fine lined bolster is called "threaded". One with a thicker groove Is called a 'rat-tail bolster", after the rat-tail file used to make it. Fluted means more than one rat-tail, and ribbed means several threads.
Of course language changes, but these are names I've found in books, such as LG4. p.13!
