Just noticed some little specks of corrosion on my d2 blade. I always keep CLP on it so I don't know what I did wrong.

1.) How do I get the corrosion off

2.) How do I prevent more of it

:(

light application of steel wool, as long as it's a user and you don't mind some light marking.

If it's surface rust, Flitz works well in my experience. It doesn't work for anything deeper though, in my experience.

I'd go with Flitz. Excellent rust removal. I think the best way to prevent rust on your knives is to wipe them dry after use. Never been a big fan of applying oils on the blade.

With D-2 you don't really need oils. Just keep it clean and dry and you shouldn't have any problems. It is a fairly corrosion resistant steel.

Oils can actually trap moisture under than and cause corrosion in some cases.

Excuse me, Tom, but what do you know about knives? :D
