Corrosion on my Navigators clip

Half of the clip of my Navigator shows corrosion lenght wise, it is just as it would have been made of carbon steel. No rust, only that characteristic "blueing" that shows up after a while. I thought it was supposed to be stainless. The blade is still shiny and new. Any others who have the same symptoms?

Funny you should bring this up. I got a new G-10 Navigator from SFO and it has this funny discloration running lengthwise on the clip. Almost looks like a chromed clip where half of the clip did not get chromed, just a darker shade of metal. Thought it was a little odd, but not enough to send it back.

Exactly what I first thought of, that it might be chromed or something, but not completely finished...
 
Thanks for the advice. I will try some "autosol", it's a kind of metal polishing compound.
