Evening Folks!

I am a relatively quiet, old school member here; usually lurking and learning -occasionally buying of course :D - I am retired Army, my wife is a DOD civilian, and we finally got her transferred down to MacDill in Tampa. My purpose here is to get some suggestions for protecting my (less than stainless) knives for their 20-60 day storage journey. I have some Ren Wax, and have applied a thin coat to all of the usual suspects, but I really don't want to get my Household Goods delivered and find a ton of rust on my knives. I have 220+ knives, so taking them along for the trip is not an option (although my favs will certainly be riding along ) Advice from all will be welcomed..... Thank you forumites!!

The Ren Wax will do the job just fine.

Your problem will not be just 20-60 days. Your new climate in Tampa is a lot more humid than Alabama and you will now need to be constantly vigilant for rust on your carbon steel blades and even more attentive to your stain-less (remember, it's not stain-proof, but stain-less) knives.

I live in the humid northeast and I've used eezox on all my blades and never had any rust issues.

Its even protected my LM juice from rusting at all after over a year of edc.

I remember trying it after seeing a comparison on a gun forum on corrosion protection and eezox was the clear winner against all the other usual suspects.

Its a very good pivot lubricant as well.

Gollnick- Yeah, I have been doing some worrying about storage. Right now (for the most part), my blades reside in 2 full-size Craftsman roll-a-ways in the garage. I take care of the ones I don't use often, but not religiously.....probably going to have to have their own room in FLA....should make the wife happy-- Look honey, here's the Becker display!! :D

evan- Will definitely look into the eezox option...always been a mineral oil/ren wax dude, but that sounds promising--thanks!!
