corrosion resistance of benchmade's bk1 coating

So a quick question for anyone that might know, I have a BM grip in d2 with the bk1 coating. I was wondering how corrosion resistant this was. BM's site said it exceeds some saltwater coating standard but I honestly don't know a whole lot about what that means. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
