Corrosion resistance?

Pure carbon steels rust somewhat easily and the best stainless ones hardly but is there a practical middleground.

I am thinking something like the CORTENs on the structural steel side, which do rust but slowly.

Do any of the alloyed steels exhibit this kind of behaviour in real life?

I often trek in wet conditions but but don't like the stainless steels met in divers knives.

I use some steels with a mid range of 8 to 10% chrome in them with other carbide builders such as vanadium. When finished properly IE no scratches from course grits they show marvilous rust resistance. One steel has been left in fresh cut tomato juice overnight with no discoloration at all.
