Am I the only one affected by this(I doubt that)
I find myself(at times) so paranoid about corrosion/rust that I tend to clean and wipe down my knives weekly(sometimes 2-3 times a week). Checking for blemishes or discoloration. If I find some I cannot rest until it is all gone and my "baby" is safely covered in tuf-cloth(marine of course).
Any one else suffering as I do?

Scarman!
I am the same way too! I find myself cleaning my knives at least 3-4 times a week.
I have a phobia of rust and any marks that don't belong on the knife. My wife thinks I am a freak for cleaning them so many times in one week.

Of Course!
Aren't good knives made to be cleaned, lubed, and opened and closed obsessively?
If not, why pay all that money?

I don't even like to take them out of their zipper pouches! If I so much as look at one I clean it immediately with a Marine TC to get rid of those annoying eyeprints. My girlfriend thinks that I am a "spazz" when it comes to this cleaning stuff. She does however support my obsession with knives and thinks that they are cool. My ex-wife did'nt...'Nuff said.

I constantly clean and lube my knives. I also open and close obsessively. But I do not wipe down my blades with tuff cloth. I have never had a blade rust so I do not see the need. Not owning any bead blasted blades help also. Have you guys actually had your blades rust that you now coat your blades?

Ah not really! Just like to keep my knives clean, protected and in good condition as possible.

I have had one or two of them show a few spots of discoloration. But you have to remember that I sweat very easily and quite copiously and so am detrimental to steel if I am without coatings.

A funny image that sometimes comes to mind .... a friend of my ex had a large male racoon that she had raised, and as long as it was in a good mood she'd let it roam at parties. The racoon would strip shiny things off of people, like watches, bracelets, rings and such, and at the end of the party there would sometimes be a nice sized pile of expensive jewelry that the racoon would be playing with. Some of the discussions about shiny knives and keeping knives shiny often reminds me of the racoon, where I can visualize lots of racoons running around at knife shows collecting piles of shiny knives, playing with them and cleaning them :^)
