Interesting picture I found on GEC's page.

And here I thought the single blade that they were talking about was going to be a wharncliffe...but that certainly looks like a cotton blade.........

It may be an SFO. The cotton samplers from the past have been marketed as Krack-a-Jack branded knives.

I just received one: Ebony, with Brass shield, bolsters and lanyard tube.

Nice and slim, wicked sharp, half-stops and 3-7/8" long.

Tang stamp reads GEC TIW 749113.

This'll be part of my EDC for a while more thoughts as I use it.

It is a cool looking blade. I may get one just on that merit! I am so out of control....:p

So, what do you do with these besides sample cotton?

Expanding on that, there seems to be a couple blade styles that are called "cotton samplers". One, like the Bose/74 pattern, which has an unsharpened portion at the base of the blade (but not always), and a very broad spey or skinner style portion at the end. The other type, like the Schatt and Morgan, is a large, broad sheepsfoot jack, often a swayback, but not always. Apart from being large single blade jacks, the blades are extremely different, yet are apparently for the same purpose.

I saw this at Ryan Daniels table at the Chesapeake show, wasn't really my style. Neat design. Tuna Valley model, ATS34 steel.

A pocket skinner, nice curvy blade.

But my pockets don't need skinnin'...?

I look forward to seeing more pictures of these, and accounts of their use.

Jenner 515, how's the ebony on yours? It appears to be a fairly solid black in GEC's pictures, but also hard to really tell.

Trending a little more towards deep Brown than Black - looks good with the Brass though.

Pics to come I promise.
