Cotton Sampler by Old Hickory

I've always liked that pattern. I liked the Remington folding the best but of course never found one. Some looked just like this other with a little more point and some
with no point or belly. Just a straight edged blade closer to a sheeps foot. Glad it's still around. Many were used as skinners. DM

I've only seen folding cotton samplers prior to this, and those all had functional points at the end of the blade. It's always seemed like a very purpose-built tool... What are the advantages of such a blade shape over, say, a drop point? Having all that belly right at the end seems like it would be inconvenient more often than it would be useful, but maybe that's just because I have never tried to use one of these before.

The Gerber Flayer was sort of a woodsy version -

.

A decent number of guides liked them as big game skinners.
