About 10yrs ago we tracked a cougar that was in a local National Park(not supposed to be in Southern Ontario at all). At one point, I realized that we(myself and 2 wardens) were all searching for sign individually... not good. Stooping down with our backs to the trees.... hello Kitty! Anyway, I suggested we stick together. We found tracks later that day then had to mark trail and end for the night. The next morning someone had shot it in their back acreage. Not more than 2kms from where we ended, the night before. It would have been better to tranq and relocate but folks get nervous when a large predator turns up in an area were they aren't supposed to exist in the first place.
