Could a maker sell me a blank?

Hi everyone. I need some help here. I've seen in the past, makers sell blanks or even knife kits over at the Exchange. I've even bought a blank from a custom maker a few months ago. Well, I'm on the hunt for another and I just can't seem to find one! Some makers have turned me down, others have not responded to emails. I know everyone is busy and I can understand why they may not offer an unfinished knife. But do you know who would?

I'm not at all interested in going to Ebay or one of the knife kit sites out there. That stuff is just too generic. I'd love to have something of an average bushcraft style, either scandi or convex grind would be great. I really like the look of the HT scaling too and that look seems to be catching on. This knife isn't for me, I'm trying to make one for a friend.

Is there anyone who will sells a blank around here? I don't know where else to ask so forgive me if this post doesn't belong here. I would REALLY appreciate your help.

Have you contacted Dan Koster by chance? I got a bushcraft blank from him that is top notch. I would imagine you'll get a response from somebody but if you just can't find anything, even though it is quite generic, then maybe consider the Enzo Trapper... But, like you're trying, I would prefer to get one made from somebody here first. Good luck!

I think you might have better luck if you ask a maker to make you a blank of your design. I would consider doing this mysef, but being one who produces mainly a few signature models, I am frankly not sure how I feel about one of my designs being finished and fitted by someone else, completely beyond my control. There are presumably makers out there who feel differently but I am guessing that this is behind many of the refusals and non-responses you have seen.
I assume you know this already, but a blank from a custom maker is likely to cost quite a bit more than one from Ebay.

Brisa.fi
They sell hand made scandi blanks.
Shipment might get a bit expensive

I know what you mean about your makers mark on an unfinished blade. I was worried about that too with the last blank I bought. A well known maker here (I'll leave him nameless) was wise enough to leave his mark off the blank so it wasn't an issue.

Sure there are plenty of production blanks out there, but that sure doesn't appeal to me.
