Could anyone do me a favor?

I'm looking to get a knife smaller then my BK7 for everyday carry. I love the BK7. But it's a little big to conceal in a suit, or just when i'm in the general public and i don't feel like catching quite so many eyes.
I'm stuck between the CQB3 and CQB4, and I was hoping that anyone with a BK7 and CQ3 or CQB4 would lay them side to side and take a picture and post it for me. Also, could anyone tell me how the handle on the 2 CQB knives are?
I intend to take whichever knife that I choose and get it custom sheathed, prolly at www.survivalsheath.com . Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have the picture that you requested, but I do have a CQB-1, which is the stainless version of one of those two CQB knives that you are looking at (I'm not sure which one, but it's the larger one). The CQB series is excellent, and they feel great "in-hand", with perfect balance.

Thanks glockman, i was beginning to wonder if anyone would answer me. Any danger of fingers slipping forward? That's my my main concern. All I was asking for a picture for was so i could get a better idea of if the handle is secure. By the way, Merry Christmas, everyone.

'ay, bud.
what about a bk-10 crewman? familiar feel, slightly different balance but very similar to your bk-7, nonetheless.

MERRY EKSMAS!

well the CQB series does not have a guard, but the shape of the handle plus the canvas micarta makes it pretty much non-slip.
I like the handling of the CQB-3, but it is carbon steel, so you'll have to maintain it, and depend on where you are, the sweat in you might give the edge a hard time.
Perhaps try it out in a knife shop before you buy.

Thanks Calyth-But what do you mean by "depend on where you are, the sweat in you might give the edge a hard time"?

Rugerhead-I'm looking for a less bulky knife, and ended up narrowing it down to teh CQB or a Cold Steel Kobun Tanto. Now it's down to which Black Ops CQB to get. I considered a BK10, but I'm just looking for something slightly more concealable. After all, it's the handle that makes my beloved BK7 harder to carry concealed.

By the way, I don't live anywhere near a knife shop that carries camillus knives, to my greatest annoyance. That's why I'm always asking questions. But I appreciate everyone's help. I found a picture of it from the side, instead of the pics at an angle, and that pretty much cleared up the grip questions? All I have next is to choose between the larger or smaller model.

Think if you're in a desert, you'll end up sweating a lot. IWB carry of a carbon steel blade isn't going to be a terribly great idea.
So depends on how humid your weather can get, you might want to look into the CQB1/2 which is stainless. Cost you a bit more, but you won't lose a knife.

Great advice Calyth. However, I live in South Dakota. It's pretty cold up here. The coating should prevent that problem from occuring with the rust, since i maintain my knives decently. However, I was thinking of getting the stainless version initially, but the grip isn't as rough. I have a short while to think of what to do, so I'll give it all some thought, and my next post will be which one I got.

martial_life,

I was thinking...If you plan on getting a custom sheath made for either the CQB-3 or CQB-4, it might be a better plan to just go ahead and get yourself a CQB-1, as the kydex sheath that it comes with is excellent enough so that you wouldn't have to spend the extra money to get a custom sheath made.

Does the stainless cut as well as the carbon steel? I have always been under the impression that the carbon steel would outcut the stainless, but then again, i don't know too much about steels. I had originally planned on the CQB1, but then got the BK7 to replace my Ka-Bar, and when I came back to the CQB series, they had the black ops versions out.

To me, the ATS-34 steel cuts VERY well, and holds a good edge. The carbon steel is a little easier to sharpen, tho. To me, the "look" and stain/rust-resistance of the stainless is a big plus over the carbon steel...Also it is much easier to keep the stainless looking "new".

Thanks a lot guys, you've all been a big help. I plan on getting the CQB1, since I've been told that the scales can be roughened if needed. I'll still eventually get that second custom sheath made for it, it'll be a shoulder sheath. They're easier to use in the winter than the belt ones, esp when I'm working. I'll tell yall what I think of it after I by it.
