i am looking at buying a used left handed large classic sebenza but the side of it is engraved (im pretty positive the engraving was done by CRK and not a 3rd party) and was wondering if they could de engrave it. anyone have this done before?

I'd be curious about who did the engraving. I haven't seen any Sebenza with engraving on just the clip side that was done by the factory. I myself have had engraving done on the clip side, but that went along with a design on the front as well. Unless the engraving you are talking about is the MM classic symbol. In that case I would think Chris wouldn't(would not)remove that. If the engraving is opposite the lock bar on the back, the only thing I can imagine them doing is to mill a groove over the engraving and maybe re-beadblast it. Call them and check. They are pretty good about working with the customer as much as possible.;)

I'm not sure if this could be done,
but If I really wanted some etching removed on the clip side
I might ask to see if Chris could put an inlay over it.
You might hurt the overall integrity of the slab if it gets too thin.

I've heard of folks having a plain side replaced with a graphic by the good people at CRK so why can't you just do the reverse? Contact CRK and ask them to put a new plain clip-side scale on your Sebbie.

I agree with Trane_fan. You should just be able to purchase a new handle slab for that side.

I've seen one. The clip-scale has been engraved with "JMS" initials on the flat section over the locking bar - just in the centre of the knife.
