i noticed some new fixed blades from demko knives listed in the new arrivals section on knifecenter. the knives look very similar to older cold steel models like the para edge and peacekeeper. even the serration pattern looks the same. id love to see more stuff resembling classic cold steels coming from demko or even a new company by lynn thompson

Welp, GSM sure doesn't seem interested or able to do so .

Maybe the "Mayhem" is close (their best try) , but most of the new designs don't remotely resemble anything classic Cold Steel .

They let go all the old Cold Steel design and testing crew and seem to be just sitting on LCT .

Certainty are ugly enough to be! 😂

Well, if he manages to increase production, starts to ship to Europe, lowers the average price and so on - I can see it happening.

Cold Steel still has old "bread and butter" knives that they keep selling well (SRK, Recon Tanto, Voyager and Recon1 series). But QC went down, there are sheath issues and basically no warranty. I ordered black talon and returned it for example, as it was gritty as hell and even inside of lock bar that shouldn't be ground was ground and so on.

So, yeah, CS is a sinking ship. In EU, LionSteel, Varusteleka and Fox stepped up to fill that void.

I'm not sure aboug situation in US, but I suppose that Becker, ESEE, Spyderco and others see increase in sales as a result of it.

However, Cold Steel as a brand is sinking (plasticy looking new models in 4116 are priced 140€ while AUS10 Voyager costs 80€ and was around 70 in the past). And so far there's no one single manufacturer that can fill that void.

But market is diverse so it's not hard to find alternative. Example is LionSteel M5 in CPM-3V for 170€, with full tang, better sheath and even lower price than Cold Steel 3V models. It's also a tactical knife and is made in Italy.
Want something cheaper?
Terava Varusteleka Jakaripuukko or Skrama. Differentially heat treated 80CrV2 that also comes with better sheath... so there are alternatives.
