Found this little guy in the kitchen today took a few pics while I was relocating it to the backyard, was about 3 or so feet long found one a couple weeks ago in the hallway that 2 or 3 feet longer didn't get any pics of that one.

To keep this knife related if I had been one of them snake haters I probably would have used my Gayle Bradley because I had it on me and it's a good slicer so, what would you guys have used to dispatch my little buddy if you were/are a hater?

We get a lot of the 2-3 footers here. We have found through experience that a meter long stick about as big around as your thumb is best for controlling them. You can be as blood thirsty or as humane as you want.

I try to relocate the non venomous, and if theyre around the house usually kill the venomous snakes, if one I was going to kill was in the house Id probably go get the hoe, I keep it pretty sharp, or the machete.

bunches of garter snakes always pop up in the lawn when I mowed in texas, friendly buggers

Oh ya if it had been a copperhead there would have been a very different set of pictures for them I've got a walkin stick with a hole and a rope doubled through it to get around their head and tighten down then the blade, or if I'm out back I'll use a shovel, garden hoe, .45, or .357 depending on what's closet at the time.

Snakes are good for mice and vermin control. Snakes in the house may mean a mouse problem, give the snake the thumbs up he is doing you a favor.

Ya havn't seen any evidence of mice for a while this one and the one I found before had both eaten recently, I wouldn't care if they stayed in the house but the dog will eat them if she finds them first and I don't want 'em dead.

Dogs will, and so do cats. I remember the time my female cat who was a great hunter presented me with a dead garter snake minus the half chewed head. it was 18 inches long and dragged it over to me (like she did with dead mice) as another one of her 'gifts'... and it was still wiggling.

Never had to deal with snake in my whole life. That being said, this thread has given me great advice on how to handle some of them :)

Nice looking snake...we get black rat snakes around here mainly..and the occasional corn snake that gets misidentified as a copperhead
