Hey i'm thinking about buying an emerson cqc7b-bts and i was wondering if anyone here had any experience with knife, how it has help up,what to watch out for and is the tanto design right for this knife, also is the "wave" feature worth the extra bucks i know it looks cool but is it really that functional and does it shred your pocket over time any comments would be greatly appreciated.

NullRoot,
The CQC-7B was my very first Emerson, I carried it for a couple of years and then retired it for a SOCFK, The knife held up great, I would recommend one anytime. I do have a waved version but haven't put it my carry rotation yet

The waved CQC-7b is a great design. I would spend the extra $ on it. In an emergency the wave makes all the difference in the world. When you adrenaline is pumping the last thing you want to worry about is if you are going to have the speed and dexterity to get the knife ofen on time. Also, it looks cool.:)

I love mine.

Get the wave. Not sure where you live, but if it ever gets cold, then... The waved 7b is the first pocket knife I have ever had that I can reliably index, draw and open with gloves on. Try that with a Spydie...

I got a waved 7b BTS two weeks ago and it is a great little knife, though I doubt you can kill a moose with it.

First let me welcome you to the EKI Forum. Stick around, join us in the Suspect Chat room and I'm sure you'll learn a lot about the CQC-7 and all your future EKI purchases (is that too presumptuous?).

The CQC-7B was also my first EKI blade (although in SFS). If you like the lines and symetry of the Tanto blade, you will certainly like this knife. Many have stated that they have had a hard time learning to shrapen the EKI blade, but I would suggest that it is relatively easy to deal with. Just take your time and you will be able to get it "hair popping" sharp (even if it doesn't feel that way at first touch).

Personally, I beleive that the satin finish is the strongest coating EKI offers in a production blade. Having said that, Mrs. Raye has a mini CQC-7A in BTS which has held up quite well in the last year.It is her EDC on patrol and she is hard on that little knife. The finish shows some scarring due to use, but rely on the fact that if the finish become too scratched-up for your liking, you can always put it through a "satinizing" project. Remember, all subdued coatings will scar in time with usage.

As for the "Wave" feature, what can I say...it is a MUST!!! The reason my CQC-7B is no longer in my EDC rotation is because it lacks the 'WAVE'. I strongly suggest spending the extra $$$, you will not be disappointed.

I hope that sheds some light on the situation. Good Luck!

:)

The TROLL SH!T in here is just way too much!!!

This is getting rediculous. This used to be a good place to hang out...I'll certainly be reconsidering that situation.
