My father asked me to sharpen a couple of his vintage knives since he was so impressed of the work I did on his user Centofante 4. I was not familiar with the knives he left me to work on, so I did a couple searches...long story short, my father could be the first one to get a Spyderco in my family

Of course I'd rather Sal give me a straightforward answer, but so far I only have this proof: http://www.noordhaghe.nl/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=32_81&products_id=363

Seki City Japan is to knives what Hollywood is to plastic surgery and Detroit is (or at least used to be) to cars. And not just large manufacturers; the back alleys are filled with people forging swords and sushi knives the old way.

For many years, Spyderco was one of the US distributors for G Sakai and several other brands of Japanese knives. If you look at some of the older catalogs, there was a section devoted to G Sakai, Moki, and Hiro knives. You can download PDF versions of those catalogs HERE.

The knives are not considered to be Spydercos by most collectors, but since some of them may have come in Spyderco boxes, people will sometimes advertise them as Spydercos.
