Could/ Should there ever be a Midi Griptilian???

Don't get me wrong I love the standard full size versions and I enjoy my Mini but...

...my mini is just a tad too small to see as much pocket time as I thought.

I love other knives at around 3.25 inches hence the "Midi" suggestion i.e. in between the two sizes. My bet is that heaps of us would pick one up even just to try it and Benchmade would add another major seller to their range.

Thoughts?

Well i guess it won't be worth the investment to them... since there are a lot of custom scales out there. But i sure would love to see one Midi though!

I'm not sure that I understand your point. Custom scales are income for custom makers - Benchmade doesn't benefit.

In fact, if there were another Griptilian size the would be more for custom scale makers to provide.

I find the mini to be a bit too small as well. The standard is a great size for general EDC but I wouldn't mind going the other direction with an XL grip.

I'd like to see a 4" blade Griptilian too, the over all thickness of the handle should be the same as on the regular one though. Making it proportionally fatter would not be too necessary I wouldn't think. The regular could become the midsize version as far as I am concerned. Win-Win! :D
 
I second the desire, midi is also my favorite and I think the perfect edc size.

If they could thin the regular grip and then make a 4 inch with the current thickness that would be perfect.
 
I like the sizes that they are currently but would like to see a 4" version also.
 
Agreed. The 556 is too small, the 551 a little large. What would we call this thing, a 'Maxi-Mini"?? ;)
 
Okay how about this;

Right now there're the Mini and the Standard 'full' sized versions. What if that became this;

Mini > Midi > Standard > Maxi

That takes came of all thos who want bigger. If any Benchmade deserves a line expansion it's the Grip IMHO.

I'm only half kidding with this...

It's such a fantastic platform I'd welcome any new sizes! 4" sounds awesome!!

It seems most of the benchmade I like are discontinued. Need more 4"+ blades. I really want to give BM another chance but the lack of 4"+ blades isn't helping and I don't want to pay crazy money for a ruckus.
 
Before owning the Crooked River I would have said there was no need for a larger grip. After using it and EDCing it I would love a larger Griptilian as well.

I just sold my 556-1 to buy a 551-1 for office carry. The Mini is just a smaller than I like to carry as a solo blade mainly for handle reasons.
 
Even for my tiny hands the mini is a bit too short, and the big is a tad too fat, so yes i would probably get a midi, sounds really picky, but if it sells it sells
