4 SCRADE WALDEN LEE & GRANT FOLDING KNIVES BOXED SET NR Item number: 6633526985 . I saw this and got so confused that I mispelled Schrade on my inquiry to the seller. Looks like Solingen on the blade perhapes a Parker issue or some German outfit. Am I missing something? and they want it to be a Pre 72 Schrade Walden as well. This just went on and it is up to 56 dollars. Please someone enlighten me. I did ask what made them think it was a Schrade set or in this case a SCRADE set???? LT

As you noted, she spelled it Scrade in two places in the headers and then finally in the ad body she spells it Schrade Walden. Soligen is plain as day on a couple of the knives and I never could make out what the other tang stamp was..you could only see part of it. Each one is "Mint", but according to the photos and my version of mint, they are not. Etching starting to fade. I went to her "about me" page and read all the crap there, so I doubt she will even acknowledge your inquiry, LT.

I'm pretty sure those are Kissing Crane knives. Those would of course be made in Germany, and to the best of my knowledge, in no way are they "Kissing Cousins" to Schrade...Scrade...Scharde...or any of those guys. Someone with Voyles' book about Commemoratives might yield some information.

I'm just surprised it wasn't Swan (Sportcolbs) selling them.

"(seller's) Auction Gallery has been conducting live (traditional) upscale auctions for over ten years. You can depend on us for accuracy and integrity. "

Another seller proffering imported knives as Genuine U.S.A. Schrades.:thumbdn:

I was just talking to Mr Voyles last week it looks like we were both right woofer, Kissing Krane, German, Parker Issue. I guess the seller got confused since Schrade made some issues for Parker. However it has nothing to do with this one.

PS I believe the book price is a little rich.

A Parker product..... Page 138 of Voyles 'IBCA -price guide to Commemorative Knives'. 1500 sets made in 1976, sold for $220. Made by Kissing Crane.

See my posts in the "LB125" thread for my rant about using the Schrade name for any and all knives, and photos appropriate for today. (My though being that if we think about the meaning of this national day off of work, the Ebay con-men seem all the more unimportant and trivial).

This is a set that came with a collection I bought outright. Easier to destinguish since it has the PF eagle on a couple of knives smooth bone. with the name of civil war battles etched on the blades ( Man these guys hold a grudge longer than me and that is saying something.) anyway tanged parker frost surgical steel with the PF eagle. I would say these were made by the littles sons of Nippon ( due to the surgical steel and the way the PF knife history was. ). Cute boogers but I cannot seem to get rid of them. LT

Well the seller got back to me and was quite sorry. They asked me to write a explanation which they added at the bottom. Since there were bids I am not sure how else they could have done it. The description they used was one written by the original owner who had passed away. they seem, like nice people and tried to do what they could just no idea on knives. LT

There some honest sellers on ebay who are just uninformed. I ran across one like that last week. I bought a Frontier 4121. The ad said; " ITS IN VERY GOOD SHAPE . NO NICKS OR DAMAGE." The picture was not good enough to see much detail.

When I got it the clip blade had been broken off and someone tried to regrind it and ground the sides of both blades. They also hit the bolsters with the grinder. The main blade wobbled like a flat tire.
I emailed her and offered to return the knife at my expense for a refund. She said that was fine and then sent me a second email saying to keep the knife as she couldn't use it either as she didn't want to sell something defective. She did refund my money. She said she went through some other knives in that lot and set them aside for a flea market where the people buying them could see what they were getting.

My faith in ebay sellers took a big leap after that.
