This is a really sturdy and decent knife but I'm puzzled since almost all the images that help date Ka-Bars have the markings on the ricassio as: 'Ka-Bar' and beneath it 'Orlean, N.Y.'.

Ok, Mine only has 'Ka-Bar' stamped on one side (no city and state) and 'USMC' (in fairly small letters) on the other.
Rectangular tang held with a pin.

Blade has no bluing or parkerizing left....some minor pitting here and there and looks to have been sharpened at some time in the long past.

The sheath is very old looking but still fairly supple----stitched and stapled with a brass snap button closure.

Is this a WWII blade or later...?

Thanks!!

That looks like a Ka Bar 1217 (no 100% sure though)

The 1217 was designed for ww2 troops

Its a WW2 era , The later ones where bigger lettering and had olean ny stamped on them . After the they were guard marked . And now the new ones are guard marked as well .

I cant help ID BUT... Have to say that is one beautiful looking blade. It is incredible to think about the things that knife has seen. Thank you for posting.
