Just got my Roger Massey carry size camp knife. Contrary to popular opinion, Danbo doesn't like to carry huge honkin knives all day in the woods.
Blade is forged 52100, and is 7.5" long from tip to front of single nickel silver guard. Thin copper spacer and another thin nickel silver spacer in front of the African Blackwood handle. One domed nickel pin and lined thonghole. Overall length is 12.5". Balance point is right in front of the guard, which makes it ever so slightly blade heavy holding it in your hand.
The hunter I recently got from Burt Foster. I sent Burt a sketch and a block of stabilized Amboynia burl, and Burt forged the knife out of O1. I don't think I've ever owned a hunter/utility knife that fit my hand so perfectly, like this one does. Blade is 3.25" from tip to front of handle material. Full tapered tang with thin red spacers. 2 stainless pins and lined thonghole. Overall length is 8".
Both knives came with very nice form fitted, hand stitched leather pouch type sheaths, but I'm wondering if I should have a nice piggyback style sheath done for both together.
