The Ultimate Combat / Survival Knife? As for any knife I`ve ever made, the answer is yes! When the orders are all done, I will be making one for myself.

Looks good. What's the grind? I've become more partial to a full flat, as I end up slowly conveying it myself. Secondary bevels and I no longer get along, and zero scandi grinds are awesome but hard to come by. Specs on this beauty?

It`s a saber grind, with a secondary edge. This is a design mqqn came up with, the XD XT Modern Bowie.

12" overall
7" blade
1/4" thick O1 steel
Roughly 2" tall at thumb ramp
Rounded spine
Thumb notches
3/8" flared copper handle pins

I love the dang thing!

It has not left my side as I have been puttering around the house all last week.

Maybe the friends of JK here can help with the name - John and I have discussed Modern Bowie or Tactical Bowie - which fits the knife better?

Great shots mqqn, you make me want to put my order in for one...

I like the name Modern Bowie better personally, tactical is a good too but modern sounds more classy
I think.

Nice Glock BTW.

How about the "It'll only hurt for a little while" Bowie

I know it's kinda long but...seems fitting

looks great John. And congrats Andy.

Modern Bowie? Tactical Bowie? How 'bout the "I Don't Know-ey Bowie"? Sorry. It's been a long week. What's that? It's Monday? Curses!!

I say keep the name simple, one it is used for, name it the "Grunt." Or make it the "Sargeant Major" for the big version, and maybe the Grunt for a smaller version, 5 3/4 blade of 3/16. What do ya think, huh, huh? :D

I prefer Modern Bowie. I could see it being a "tactical" bowie if it had a beveled and/or sharpened spine.

Whatever the name, it is certainly one completely bad-ass knife.

What about combining the names? i.e. something like, "Combat Bowie".

In the theme of combining names, how about the "Mod-Com" (Modern Combat) Bowie. It is a shame I live so far away from the gatherings... I'll not get to play with that knife:(

Some great name ideas - I like the Combat Bowie for sure. Grunt and Sgt. Major are cool names too.

I took a few chops at my old picnic table after I got done playing with the ULH and the Pocket Rocket - it chops pretty good!
