Hello ladies and gentlemen. My father recently passed away and while i was boxing up his estate, i came across this randall knife amongst his firearms. I've tried to identify the model/year/price but the best i can come up with is it has a double hilt, sawback, stainless, and possible black micarta handle? Any help is appreciated, unfortunately i need to sell a few of his things to pay for funeral costs, and this is one of those items. If you need any better photos, please let me know.

Hi, and welcome. Sorry to hear about your dad. The knife is likely an early 1990's Model #15 'Airman' optioned with a stainless steel blade, saw teeth, a nickel-silver Model #1 style hilt, a Border Patrol handle shape, and black sheath...fully optioned. I'd need to know the blade length and see a shot of the handle top to be sure. Hope that helps.

Thank you for your help, Mr. Purvis. The blade is 5 3/4" from tip to top of hilt, and the handle is 4 3/4". My measurements may be slightly off, i don't have my glasses with me. I think i got the correct angle that you wanted with the pic below, if not, please let me know and i'll take others.

On a personal note, thank you for your condolences and help. Is there anyway to tip you?

OP,

Sorry to hear about your father's passing. Your Username sure is touching.

Shel,

Tell me about the blade shape on this #15. Typically, with sawteeth, you get a spear point. This one seems to have more of a clip point. I like it. Was that an option in the early 90s?

Sorry for your loss! I'm new to Randall's so I can't help ya. But that's a beutiful knife. Dad sure had good taste in cutlery! Good luck

Imyd, thanks, that's what I needed to ensure a correct assessment...

Tom, that grind threw me a bit as well. Not an option IMO, just an byproduct of it being an individually handmade knife; the handle is a little funky too - I'd like to add it to my oddball RMK collection if the OP is willing...

Thanks Sheldon. It would be in good hands with you.

What did you have in mind?

Imyd, you have your PM settings turned off, so I have no way to contact you privately, and you don't have the purchased membership level to sell here at Blade Forums. So, if you want to pursue this further, you'll need to contact me either via PM or by following the link in my Sigline. Or, purchase a Gold level BFC membership and publicly list it for sale...it just can't be done here, in this thread, at this time. Rules...

That's odd. I just checked my settings and it says 'visitor messaging' - on. I emailed you at your sbcglobal address. I didn't know there was a membership that had to be purchased to sell items here, my apologies if i stepped on any toes.
