Couldn't resist it - Had to get a Junglas

After much internal debate I finally just bought a brand new Esee Junglas this morning to stop the internal stress. I almost bought a Rucki and would have except for a sudden loss of funds due to unexpected expenditures. The Rucki would have been overkill for my purpose though, which is to have a good chopper while doing some fall camping and much wood will be burned. I think the Junglas will be perfectly sufficient and won't scare anyone around camp either (maybe)... and now the WAIT (sigh)...

Here's a pic of the actual knife....

The Junglas is awesome, here is my trusty work horse. Here's a pic to make your wait a little easier (or harder) :D

Thanks guys! This is exactly what I need. Talking about how great this knife is helps make the wait easier... LOVE that blade Logic!

The blade is fantastic, and it comes with a great sheath. You won't be disappointed.

That's a custom made by Bruce Culberson. Here is the full pic

It's a 14.25 inch blade, made out .28" steel. 20" overall.

It's an awesome chopper.

BEAUTIFUL!!!! Love that blade finish. Looks like a perfect size. Thanks for the clue. I'll check out Bruce's work.

I felt the same way as you a few weeks ago, and also had to do something about it...

She's a beast.

I know how you feel. I just picked this up Friday night. It came with the customized scales. Done by a local guy for the shop where i purchased it.

I love, but have not had the chance to actually use it yet. Maybe this weekend.

That's nice man! Do you have any info on how you did the mods?

Thanks Josh. I stripped the coating on the blade and lightly sanded it with 400 grit sandpaper and then smoothed it out a bit with 1000 grit. I wanted to keep a bit of the logo and lettering showing so I didn't go for that polished look.

As for the scales, I used a dremel with a triangle shaped stone to get that pattern. If you attempt this yourself just keep in mind that you have to be really patient otherwise the micarta will burn. Don't press down hard in an attempt to get it to do it faster, and let it cool about every 5-10 seconds (it took me a total of 5 hours to finish both sides). Afterwards just lightly sand it with 400 grit sandpaper and then dye it with brown rit dye.

The jimping on the top is done with a carbide bit. Just mark where you want to grind, and clamp the blade down on a vise (or stab it into a thick cardboard box. Spray some wd40 for lube and try to be as precise as possible.

Mine's getting delivered tomorrow according to usps tracking. :) bought it for the same reason too. Something about fall in new england, I start hearing the call of the wild. Can't wait to put the beast to use. Also waiting on a busse team gemini L.B. :)

Just arrived today!!! What a beast!!!! It's awesome and i can't wait to use it. Decided to leave the black coating on and see how it goes because it looks seriously bad ass....

I have never used one or handled one, but the Junglas seems to be worth waiting for. Perhaps while you are waiting, you can daydream about using your new Junglas in a real jungle scenario. For example, pretend you will be going to a crocodile-infested region of Papua New Guinea. :D That will unleash your inner Walter Mitty. :D

Man that IS a great looking knife. I've been on the fence about which ESEE to get, thinking the 6 but I now think I'm getting that same Junglas, color and everything.

That is AWESOME!
