Couldn't Swing the BK20 Sooo.......

I couldn't do the $200 to get the BK20 and SWMBO gave me the OK to get the BK4 that has been in my cart at the big river store for awhile. $48 shipped, so I had to do it.
So now I've got another Becker in the stable [emoji3]
I didn't think I would really need or like anything bigger than my 7, but I think this one is going to find it's place. Can't wait to get it out and break it in.

Hell yes, the 4 is one sweet blade. I love the thing. Congrats.

if you had bought the 20, you'd have a free 4 and 5

and then could sell any or all of them at your whim

sell the 4 and 5, and the 20 is almost free ;)

SWMBO made a bad choice :D

I know, right Bladite,. I really want the 20, but there wasn't any way for me to swing it right now. I'm grateful she let me take the $$ out of the budget right now.
Now if by some unforeseen miracle there is still the possibility to get a 20 in the middle of May,.........

Well, one more Becker blade is still better than no more Beckers, the BK4 should serve you well. The BK7 has been a favorite of mine for a long time.

Where did you find it on the big river store site for 48$? I saw Tomars had them for 58$.

That is a great price for a BK4. They seem bigger until you get one in your hands. There is a video on YouTube where Ethan gives some Machax tips if you haven't seen it.
 
Nice post. I wonder if the BK20 deal is going to sell some BK4s and 5s? I also could not fit the BK20 package in my current budget, although it is a great deal considering what you get. I already have a 5 and the 4 recently came into focus for me. It has a lot of design elements I have been wanting, but for some reason was not thinking about the 4. Then when I looked at the BK20 package and realized the item I really wanted the most was the 4, I had one of those head-slapping moments :rolleyes: - why not just get a 4! So I did - it arrived today and can't wait to put it to use! Now several more in-use posts to enjoy just appeared. Anyway, glad I finally came to my senses :)
 
Good buy and sweet steel! That right there is a lot of 1095:D. Now for the most important question-what mod will happen first?

I am so excited to get mine for the same reason. I have heard nothing but praise, and I certainly have a lot of work to do in the woods.
 
I think of it as a Big small knife, as opposed to a Small big knife. If that makes sense.

It chops well for it's size (way better than the BK2 which is a similar weight), but if I'm doing heavy chopping I want my BK21 anyway. For quickly moving through wood processing (kindling, big carving stuff, etc) it's the best.
 
I will search for the video on the 4. This is another one that after just one outing with it, I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. I think I am going to add an 11 to family and carry it with the 4.
