Couldn't wait for fiddleback Friday to deliver the runt I wanted

So I couldn't wait around and wait for the runt that I wanted to come up in fiddleback Friday or on the flea market so I decided to take matters into my own hands

I had some stabilized maple burl a belt sander and a buffing wheel... I used to restore straight razors and had been playing around with the Enzo blade blanks so I figured why not??

I wanted a stainless runt with wood scales ... so I found a used production runt for 150 shipped and went to work...

ended up having to erase the spine etching and it doesn't have the trademark bullseye lanyard hole but I'm pretty proud and it doesn't look half bad

Sorry fiddleback... I'm sure I did a lot of things the wrong way and it's fit and finish is nowhere near the artisans that do your work but it'll scratch that itch until I actually find the real runt I wanted ..

Pics next to my micarta runt

Why do we even bother to stock knives if people are going to make their own? C'mon people! LOL. Just kidding Heespharm - you did a bang-up job on this knife. Congrats!

Lol thanks... I felt like I was desecrating a work of art but it was a production model so I was somewhat ok with it... just made me appreciate fiddleback Friday even more because it took me 5-6 hours to finish a rescale ... but to prepare 15-20 knives weekly???? That's nothing short of amazing!

I've seen the guys in the shop working on these many times and there is a reason that they make the knives instead of me! I'll say it again though: you did a bang-up job on that knife! Now, if you want someone to sell it for you... :)

now now

fiddleback aftermarket-post does not have the same ring to it

unless you wanna be responsible for the warranty

I already saw

lol... yeah it wasn't exactly a smooth process... it's good enough for my straight razor restoration work but not for any sort of comfortable working conditions

Somehow you found the perfect piece of maple to match my Blackhawk :)

Great job on the mod.

Did you use a belt to shape the handles prior to finishing?
