Bought myself a harbor freight drill press for an early x-mas gift and just couldn't resist...

Looks fabulous! I don't know what you did though.... Please explain! What was the drill press for?

S_A drilled a divot into the smooth Ti replacement scale to accommodate the relocated stop pin of the Gen 4 3.5.

Please make sure when and if you sell it that you let everyone know this scale was modified by you. Also, try to impress upon the new owner to do the same.

Ah! Now that's very impressive as the location of the hole would have to be so exact!!!!!!! Well done!!!

I will do so for sure, if heaven forbid I have to sell it, but I can honestly say I will not sell this one.

I believe in full disclosure.

I took the 4th gen liner and set it on the Ti scale, put the pivot and female handle barrels through their respective holes to line everything up, then I took masking tape and wrapped it all over it to prevent minor movements.

I then took my digital caliper and figured out the size of the stop pin. Found 2 of the proper size bits.

Drilled real slow and used the liner as a guide, once the hole started took the liner off and all the hardware, then slowly drilled a little more. I used a depth gauge to make it exaclty as deep as the stock scale.
Once the middle of the hole was deep enough I took the other bit and ground off the point to make it flat, and then drilled the hole out flat on the bottom.

Whole process took about 30 minutes as I went real slow making sure to keep it watered and that everything was properly aligned.

If I had a beadblaster I could have blasted it up and it would have looked factory.
Couldn't be happier!

Is it correct to say that your new titanium scale's thickness is equal to the original titanium liner thickness plus the carbon fiber or G10 scale? Otherwise, I would think you would have run into problems with the pivot length...
How does the weight of your "new" folder compare to the original weight? I am guessing a few tenths of an ounce greater.
You have a very interesting folder there. Very nice work.

the titanium scales do replace the liner and g-10/cf. Not sure what the weight difference is, but when I got my ti bronze frag I was surprised by the weight difference, even though I shouodnt have been since its such a beefy piece of ti.

The Ti scales are made to directly replace the stock steel liner and g10 scale, they are equal in thickness. But the only fit on the 3rd gen and earlier knives as of now, the 4th gen ones will be rolling out eventually...I just couldn't wait! I love the feeling of all ti!

It is def heavier but I like the heft it adds to it!

Thanks for the compliments

I'm actually doing the same thing to a frag Ti scale this weekend, although no drill press for me though, but that's OK cuz I've got a plan & hopefully it works.

I thought about making a new stop pin with only one side that fits into the lock side only but couldnt find any round stock that would work.

Good luck!
