Hi everyone

I just received a reply back from Council Tool explaining why a great many stores do not carry Council Tool Axes.

It seems that a majority of the stores are members of purchasing groups. The very largest one is Orgill. They put on one of the very largest hardware trade shows. For many years Council Tool was one of the top vendors and then the profit margins became so low that the purchasing agents went offshore. Then Orgill began purchasing the cheap, poor quality Mintcraft axes. NOW, many of the hardwares call those axes Mint crap axes and are placing orders directly with Council Tool. The customers are better satisfied.

My family has used Council Tool Axes for over 100 years. This company makes quality tools. I own seven of their axes.

While in my local ace hardware recently i noticed they actually carried council tool brush hooks but not any of their axes, just the crappy mexican made collins. Pretty dissapointing.

Not too surprised. The negotiating power of big box stores forced a lot of production overseas. The average consumer really doesn't know about the quality they're buying or what a good product is so many companies get away with it.

It's disappointing trying to find any decent axes, shovels, and many other types of tools in any store.
