Council Tool has new pics of the Velvicut Hudson Bay axe head up, holy cow

That's a real pretty looking axe, and not a bad price if they're as good as they look, tempting. Thanks for posting Wildman.

Regards

Robin

Do you have an order in Wildman?

Have you used any of the Velvicuts?

M3mphis- haven't used one yet but do have a Velvicut Hudson Bay on the way. Will do a full picture review once I get it and test it out here in the high country. Now that I see that beautiful head I'm really excited!

Pipeman- Sure, thanks. Council made this axe to compete directly with Gransfors Bruks, and I gotta say it's very exciting. They coordinated with many of the axe experts at Bushcraft USA to craft something that will take on a Gransfors Bruks Scandinavian Forest Axe head to head, including overall quality, handle grain, edge sharpness, chopping ability and balance. The choice of 5160 steel is very cool, no doubt. Having an "American Gransfors" is one of the most exciting things to happen in bushcraft in years, so I'm hoping this axe will live up to the hype.

Hm i wonder if they ship International?

A very good-looking axehead indeed!

I would email them and tell them you are a member of Bladeforums and ask if they'd ship to your country. If anyone would do it I would think Council Tool would since they are family owned.

I think this thread deserves some pictures:

Sure a nice looking tool! 5160 to boot, cant help but like it...Ive always been a fan of the hudson bay pattern anyway..

I've been very interested in seeing a forum member's review of a Velvicut. Looking forward what you have to say about it....mmm 5160 *drool*

From what folks have said about the American Felling Axe I think we're in for a treat. :)

I get paid next week. Think I may get one. Those are nice. Now to decide between the 2# or 4#.

Just picked up the very first one today on my way back from Wilmington, it's beautiful!!! I love my GB's and it's every bit the quality of a GB. Can't wait to use it this weekend in the Carolina's as I think fall has finally arrived.
