Council Tool Makes Good!

Last night my 2nd Hudson Bay 1.75 Axe was returned to me. They seemed to have seated the head further down the shoulder. The wedge is hammered in and the wood seems to just be a little bit above the eye, not as much as with a GB or Wetterlings, but more than before. The grain orientation has always been good with my Council Tool Axes (three so far).

The note attached to the package says: Do not put any harsh chemicals on the wooden handle or around the eye of the axe head. This will reduce the moisture level in the handle and cause the handle to dry and become loose.

As far as I can tell, they also seemed to have cleaned up my edge and really made it pop. After initially removing the coating, I took a file to the edge and got it where I wanted it. They put it on a belt and made it look like it was from the factory. Nice work Council Tool.

Thanks for the info, bear. Glad to know that Council is a great company that stands behind their products and does right by their customers; I'll definitely be hunting for one of their products soon. As an aside: how did you remove the factory paint coating from the axe head (looks great)?
