I just got my closeout Counter Point XL and it is awesome:). One question though, what is the purpose of the notch in the front of the handle? It's like they were going to do a choil so you could choke up for fine work but then didn't?

you talking the little divot in the blade so you can sharpen the entire blade, or the flat part of the blade you have your finger on in the picture?

Not the sharpening notch, the flat part of the blade where my index finger is (which would fit nicely into the notch in the front of the handle if not for that flat part).

So that you can close it one handed by having an unsharpened spot to fall on your index finger safely

Uneasy name for a knife guy.

I got one on closeout last year for 46. One of my favorites. True dagger tip spear point.

I'm guessing it's another visual indicator for which way the knife is facing; lets you know that's the edge side.

The only question i have: Why wont CS make a G-10 version of it, like the Hold Out?
The only reason i carry it less than the holdout is because the grivory handle is too thick for my butt's comfort(i carry knives in my back pocket, unclipped)

You know this knife can very well be the Counter Point in any argument. If the opposition disagrees, whip this out.

We seem to be discussing two different things here: the shape of the handle and the shape of the ricasso. If you're asking why the front portion of the handle is shaped differently on one side, then I agree with 100eyes:

I'm guessing it's another visual indicator for which way the knife is facing; lets you know that's the edge side.

That would also explain why they didn't put a choil in the ricasso to go along with the notch in the handle, as the notch in the handle wasn't designed with that in mind.

Itz ze choil for safe one hand closure! Endz of storiezz
