Does anyone know where a replica or similar knife to the infamous Counter Strike 1.6 blade can be found? Anyone who has ever been into FPS's surely knows what I am referring to. If not here are a couple pictures to clarify. I have been looking for this blade for the longest time. I am honestly not even sure what kindof blade it is modeled after, surely someone here must know.

WOW!
I swear I just played CS 1.6 and wonder if anyone knows this knife. I mean...
I like it, it's a good lookin design. I only know the knife of the 1.1 version, it's like some SOG knives...

Wow thanks, I think thats it. You dont happen to know the year it first went into production do you?

Nice pic. Only one made for a small competition between Jerry Hossom, Strider and Robert Simonich.

If I remember correctly the cutting edge (wavy part) is S30V and the rest is Titanium. I can´t remember what the handle slabs were made of...

Very cool.

In that case I would venture to guess he modeled it after the CS knife, and the original design for it was either created for the game or previously a blade we have not yet found pre dating 1999.

Sorry. Wrong. Those makers certainly did not base their knife off a video game.

Yes, Counter-Strike was released in 1999, but Counterstrike 1.6 was released around 2003, four years later.

Valve based the knife in 1.6 off of the actual knife. The cutting edge is Stellite and the rest is Titanium.

Proof?

Thanks DR Fish that first link was exactly what I have been looking for. Us doctors must stick together.

I believe this post was made after Strider won. I was wrong about the cutting edge, it wasn´t S30V it was Stellite. If my memory serves me right (and it hasn´t during my last post) someone connected to the CS people asked the Strider guys if it was ok to use the knife in the game. I am sure you can get more info at the other forum.

Might have been Gabe Newell. Gabe is actually a knife nut and even posts on bladeforums from time to time. He's got a lotta nice knives, mostly customs.

Is there any reason for the jimping on the spine of the blade? I mean, I suppose if you move your hand all the way up on the handle so your index finger is in the blade choil, your thumb might be able to reach around the blade guard, but... weird.

On the jimping, not everything a knifemaker does needs a reason, but in this case it might well be handy to choke up on the blade when doing some fine cutting. In that case, your forefinger wood indeed fit in the choil and your thumb would meet the jimping on top. If you ask too many "why" questions about knife design you'll probably make yourself crazy with the answers you'll hear, the most common of which will be, "why not?" :)

I should point out that Mick's knife won the competition hands down. There were six of us in it. Mick, Dwyer, Onion, Simonich, Mayo and myself. Onion's knife was pretty amazing but it wasn't fully done yet. After it was finished and engraved I understand it sold for about $10,000. Mick's went for a few thousand. I think I got $1.95 for mine. The handle on Mick's knife was blue mammoth ivory.

That's what I was thinking. And "no reason" is as good as any. Thanks, Jerry.

I wont lie, I love that in a random thread on CS knives one of the guys in the competition sees it and posts!

Thanks Jerry!

ps: Any chance you would have pictures of yours or the others entries?

I'm away from my home PC or I'd post mine. It was well below the standard set by Mick and Onion. The photo really doesn't do Mick's knife justice. Besides that, at the time it was a step outside his comfort zone in style and grind so it was a high risk effort in all regards, something knifemakers respect in others. The criterion for winning was pucker factor, meaning both what the knife looked like and what we each knew were the risks involved in making it.
