I've seen stuff like this before, and I normally don't get worked up about it, but now that some manufacturer is mocking  my [our] beloved Beckers, is there any recourse to deal with this garbage?

This one is shipping in from overseas, but I've seen a couple of counterfeits in the past that were right here in the states, IIRC. The sad thing is, somebody who isn't too sophisticated when it comes to knives might get a fake and thinks it's the real deal, when it's not.

Being counterfeited under the Camillus brand, is it something Acme United would have to pursue, or is this something Ethan could go after them for since it's Becker branded also? Would it even be worth it, costwise?

I'm not trying to stir up trouble, but this really is aggravating. To me, anyway. :(

Becker knives & Tools. Long Live The Real Deal.

I think that one was shown recently. If it's the same one, it actually has a picture of Ethan Becker on the box: that in itself is a no-no if they don't have Ethan's permission.

I don't think it actually says Becker anywhere, although the designation "CAM-BK6" is certainly trading on Becker's good name. Also, while it is a knock off, it's not a direct copy of any Becker model (close, but not actually a copy). From a legal standpoint I don't know what could be done.

While they say that imitation is the sincerest for of flattery, I don't think this is flattering to Ethan, at all. It's a blatant rip off, trading on the reputation and brand loyalty that Ethan Becker has built over the course of many, many years.

I don't know what can be done about it though. If I were Ethan, I would try to get an injunction against the sale of those knock offs, on the grounds that the similarity endangers his brand.

To report what, Tony? I don't think you can report a rip-off here on BF (though it would be sweet, if it worked).

if you click the link it is not BF it is ebay...
and report it to ebay peeps.
the same person was selling Busse knock-offs... I reported it to ebay & to Jerry.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks, Tony, that's a good idea. I think I'll let Ethan know, too, although he's awful busy preparing for the Blade show right now, so I'm not sure he's reading his email at the moment.

Just so everyone knows, I did email Ethan about this to make him aware of it. I'm awaiting feedback from him before I go any further, as he may want KA-BAR's legal department to handle it.

I just checked the link again and it said,
"This listing (130386324037) has been removed, or this item is not available."
So it looks as if they have removed it.

I didn't see that other thread, but I'm glad this is getting dealt with, however it ends up. I'll remember that tip about the report button (in the link) next time.

yeah, Ethan and company are ... aware and amused.

we'll see what happens.

i'd LOVE to see one of those pieces of dung, well, just to see it, but not for a $120 premium and encouraging them.

if customs would like to send one to me as "recovered materials", sure ;)
