My wife called me this morning to tell me she had gone off the road. We are having one heck of a snow storm and she slid clear off the road into a deep ditch. She had my 2yr old daughter and my inlaws in the car. Fortunately no one was hurt. I had a funny feeling about them going out earlier because I knew a storm was coming, but I talked myself out of trying to stop her--she can be a might fiesty.

Well, nothing much more to the story other than I'm a very lucky man today. I started to shake when I saw that car down in the ditch like that(about 6feet down and leaning like it was going to roll over)even though I knew they were okay from talking to her on the phone---just looked like accidents I had seen where everything wasn't okay.

Thanks to the stranger driving the plow truck who stopped traffic and pulled the car out for us:)---there are alot of good people out there.

Rob,

Thank God everyone came out alright. That's why we build up good karma... for days like this.

I've got a snowy drive into work today also. Your post will keep my speed down (everyone around here tends to forget when there hasn't been snow for a while).

Take care my friend.

Excellent News!:D It is indeed a blessing to avert injury. I've been involved in too many auto accidents as a wreckless(ful!) youth. I've also witnessed accidents where people had to be cut out and zipped into bags. It definately gives me the shivers and a reminder of how truly frail life can be. Once again, Rob, I'm very pleased to know everyone's alright! Be sure to give 'em a big hug-- I'm sure you've already taken care of that :)

Thanks Craig:) Yep hugs were given and my daughter's "terrible twos" behavior seemed more charming than annoying.:) :)

Good to hear it wasn't serious Rob. We never know from one moment to the next what turn our lives can or will take.
It is indeed Karma by any name.

Thanks everyone:)

My wife will think twice before driving in weather like that. Which is just fine by me.

Rob: Sorry to hear your wife 'slud', happy to know that all are ok.
Things have been a bit wild in our state the last day or so! I'm fortunate in that being retired, I can just 'coop' during bad weather.
Here in mid-Maine we didn't get hit as hard as other areas...even so, when my wife (still consulting though retired) had to go to school this afternoon over the frozen slush of yesterday, I kept fingers and toes crossed. She's an experienced and skilled bad weather driver, but that doesn't count when someone careless runs into you.
Every experience is a chance to learn, they say. I've had two serious crashes, both winter weather related...and I'm VERY careful driving in white weather.

Glad to hear everyone is all right!!

On my way home tonight I almost slid off the road too. It was very strange because the roads were all dry from a snow storm a few days ago and I drove on the same part of the road going to work and it was dry. On the way home I was doing 60 mph when all of the sudden there was tons of frozen slush a few hundred yards long on the road and when I hit it it gripped my tires and pulled the car sideways! I let go of the wheel and let the car straighten out on it's own at first and then I took over and got her back in the right lane! The traction control and anti-lock brakes helped out alot! Got my heart goin' pretty fast!

I don't know where that stuff came from because I KNOW the darn road WAS DRY in the morning! And the rest of the road was dry the rest of the way home.

I guess you ALWAYS need to expect the unexpected!

Ba carefull folks!!!

Maui,
Glad everything turned out ok! Those things happen sooo fast, at times there is nothing to prepare for ,they just happen!

Rob,
It is good to hear that all were unharmed. Other than a real scare, I bet. I was out that afternoon getting some things at the store. I should have stayed home. What a trip. It is amazing just how quickly the roads can turn to crap up here. Those kind of trips make me glad I do not drive like I did when I was young. My reactions are not as fast as they used to be.
Once again, thank God all were unharmed, and able to come home happy and safe!
